OXFORD LEARN SOFTWARE
Oxford Learn platform is software developed to re-enforce they syllabus each level has. The software allows students to practice their language through the four skills: Listening, reading, writing and speaking using an electronic device. It contents a variety of exercises that let students review what is seen in face to face classes. They can keep track of their improvement and language weaknesses. For teachers, the program allows tracking student's advancements, weakness, course process, timing activities, and log in from students.
The software's structure begins with login, the initial page presents course overview, bookmarks, course schedule, then it presents the contents which start with teacher resources where you can find guidelines of how to use the platform, scoring and rubrics. On the second item, it presents students resources where it shows how to use the program and what is expected from it, finally, it reveals the skills students want to work. Each skill shows the number of activities it contents. Moreover, it displays the ability by interesting themes in which students can choose the order and the intention he or she might have.
From the rubric, it is seen the software does not bear in mind much technical support since it is a program that is 100% online; any processor or operating system works for it, and the main resource is having an internet connection.
Content-based is an application for all ages, it involves programs for kids and adults. The activities start with engaging exercises where vocabulary is presented, next exploring where the vocabulary is used thorugh a game or a video, followed by task 1 and 2 where students knowledge is tested, then, it comes with a reflection where it poses a problem or a situation that students need to answer, finally a discussion topic is provided where it can be discussed by all the members of the course. The content is very authentic, it enhances communicative competence and it involved the cultural dimension of language
Usability: the platform is very easy to use, it has a clear layout, it is organized. Sounds and images are of good quality. Moreover, it is fed with guidelines for teachers and students and it recommends supplementary materials from Oxford University Press. To access this software is needed to buy at least one of their books or register in one of their programs. The book price rounds $150.000 and one program from $ 1.900.000 per 160 hours.
As a teacher and user of this platform, I strongly recommended it due to students' joy of working with it. Moreover, it helps a lot to those students who are shy in the classroom and who have pronunciation problems.
